Holga
Originally uploaded by akkleis
I’ve had my Holga for about two years, now, but never really did anything with any of the 120mm shots before now. I just got a new film scanner last week and I found all my old 120 negatives and started scanning them last night. A lot of them were from October 2005 when I was at Maymont Park in Richmond and others were from earlier this year when it snowed.
This photo was chosen for DCist Photo of the Day today!

Hello kitty
I took this photo of an orange cat just a few days ago and thought against putting it in the DCist pool, but figured what the hell and added it last night. It got used today!

Ofrenda: Day of the Dead
Check out Jack’s website for information on how we’ve pulled this project together and where it’s heading. I’m really excited about this project; it’s unlike anything I’ve ever done before. I went to the space tonight and, while it’s on the smaller side, it will be a lot of fun. Don’t miss this!
In the meantime, here are a few of my photos:

Next up: Ofrenda
I will be participating in Art Outlet’s Day of the Dead show, Ofrenda. My friend Jack, his wife Paivi, and I have collaborated on a project that we will be projecting, i.e., it’s not my usual style. It’s still coming together and I don’t want to give too much away, but it involved a photo shoot in Rock Creek Park this weekend, and there were several people who actually thought the person on the table was dead. As if we’d actually roll out a corpse in a park in the middle of the afternoon. ;) As soon as we said, “It’s an art project” people would laugh it off and seem instantly relieved. Intrigued? Come out and see the show on the 13th. I’ll put up my individual photos afterwards, along with the movie.
