Arts On Foot

I just found out I was accepted for Arts on Foot, a juried art festival in the Penn Quarter neighborhood of DC!!!!

I participated in 2004, and was totally unaware that it was actually a festival, which I was totally not prepared for.  But, I sold one print and gave away a bunch of little note cards, met a bunch of people, and it was a fun day.

…been busy…

I’ve actually been pretty busy these days, either with shooting new stuff or developing film from who knows when or simply getting around to scanning the negs.  Tonight, I scanned in a few new rolls…well, not really “new” (can’t even remember when I shot some of them, actually), but I’ve posted a few of them, so if you have a few minutes, please check them out HERE!

A few years ago, I threw together this wierd little flower using a mum stem and a ton of cat whiskers I’d collected.  Totally forgot that I’d done this, again, but this time in black and white…I think they look cool.

Then, there’s some of my standard dog park photos…don’t even know when they were taken.

I’ve also been playing around with the Holga, mostly using 35mm instead of 120.  A recent roll from a trip to Ocracoke Island, NC, turned out very very grainy (not like ones I’ve shot in the past), but I like the way they turned out.

Thanks for looking!!!!!

AAARGH! Not again!!!

For whatever reason, the stupid Flickr plugin is broken, AGAIN!, and none of my photos are being fed into this site.  I’m working on this, but in the meantime, all of my photos may be viewed directly in Flickr @ http://www.flickr.com/photos/angelakleis/

more britishink

I found a third roll of film from that night out at britishink.  Just scanned them in, so check’em out!

(looks like I messed something up during the development, but they should print a lot better than they scanned)

more Wall Mountables

Here’s a few more pictures….

These were taken by my friend Jack, who’s stuff you can see to the right of mine (and, whose space I totally saved, for the second time this year…he so owes me…)

Wall Mountables!

The Wall Mountables show opens tomorrow at the DC Arts Center in Adams Morgan.  I left work early yesterday and hung up some of my new stuff from Britishink.  Be sure to check out this show!  I forgot to take a picture of my work, but, fooling around on Flickr, again, I found this one from Sean!

Part of my exhibit at the DCAC!

I saw some of his concrete work and a new one from Arty4Ever, and got a chance to see Alexandra Silverthorne, and a few others, briefly, during the hanging frenzy.  Then I spent about 100 hours at the Framer’s Workroom with Jack while he got his own stuff ready.

Opening is tomorrow.  Here’s the deal.  Check it out!

This was a lot of fun to put together and much needed after the lull post Artomatic.  It’s good to have something to stress over!

Check this out! “Imperfect Images”

Robert Walton, aka Team Wet Dog, has put together a series of photos taken with his cell phone camera. He has a series of 25 images, called “Imperfect”, which convey a co-idea: “democracy in art”…that anyone’s art is essentially as meaningful as anyone else’s, to someone. The idea that it’s all, all, all, subjective.”

Please check it out! He’s done a great job with this and all of them are so cool!! http://www.teamwetdog.com/cellexhibit/intro.htm

I love the black and whites (obviously) but the colors are saturated and all of the images are pretty damn subjective. A few years ago, I bought one of Robert’s photos of the (I think) 14th Street Bridge, and it’s still one of my favs.

This is my favorite one from “Imperfect”:  I can’t wait to get it and hang it up!

…does anyone else see what I find so amusing about this picture?

I’ll give you a hint:  the really scared lady is being followed by a the “Have a nice day” face in an overcoat….ahahaha
